Matt is an entrepreneur, attorney, philanthropist, optimist, and a proudly patriotic American
Matt believes that America is at her best everyday when we hardworking Americans across every industry and profession pursue peace, happiness, and prosperity with an appreciation for our history, free from fear and insecurity.
Matt remembers hearing Ronald Reagan deliver one of the most powerful demands in American history: “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!”
Deeply impressed by Reagan’s stand against totalitarianism, Matt became a believer in the role of America as a champion of freedom and democracy around the world.
Matt stands for and champions America At Her Best. He appreciates America’s history and sees a future for America built on fundamental fairness to citizens and allies, fiscal and personal responsibility, and international cooperation. He is deeply passionate about environmental issues and wants to protect our country and its citizens in the current climate crisis. Matt believes the Republican Party of 2020 needs to refocus on these values, principles, and issues.
He has forged lifelong friendships with the people he has been blessed to represent. Matt is proud of the mutual respect he has developed with opposing counsel and judges. And Matt is proud to have always treated his role as an employer as one of great responsibility for the team of deeply committed attorneys and staff across multiple offices in California.
That is why Matt has been named to the Southern California Super Lawyers list every year since 2009, and he is proud to have argued for important legal precedents used by others in their pursuit of justice today.
That is why he started The Satyagraha Alliance in 2017, a nonprofit organization focused on serving our homeless, feeding our poor, and protecting our environment.
Matt and each of his staff volunteer at local nonprofits. The Satyagraha Alliance has impacted the lives of hundreds of homeless youth and adults and provided vital resources for organizations that bridge the hunger gap in California communities.
Matt’s grandmother Menard was the daughter of Swiss immigrants, a French speaking cowgirl born in a sod house out on the Eastern Edge of the Colorado Prairie. When the United States entered WWII, four of her brothers served proudly in our armed forces.
Matt received his J.D. from Southwestern Law School and his B.A. from Tulane University.
Matt believes that America is at her best everyday when we hardworking Americans across every industry and profession pursue peace, happiness, and prosperity with an appreciation for our history, free from fear and insecurity.
Matt believes in a classic conservatism where cool heads temper the extremes. He believes that America is full of heroes. Heroes in our classrooms. Heroes in our military. Heroes at the border. Heroes in our homes. And even heroes in our government.
Matt believes this can only be done when people of different perspectives are willing to resolve differences and reject bad actors who exploit America’s divisions on both sides of the political aisle for their own gain.
Above all, Matt believes in an America where people with a strong work ethic, an entrepreneurial spirit, a tireless resolve for justice, and a government that celebrates these strengths are the backbone of our national success and the true engines of change.
Matt believes a President’s job is to keep these engines running, creating opportunities for and taking care of working class Americans, pursuing policies to boost our economy, and maintaining alliances across the world to preserve safety and protect our shared environment.
